Intergovernmental Linkages

CAFRA’s work with the United Nations organisation is expanding and useful partnership were fostered with UNDP, UNAIDS and UNIFEM during the period under review. UNIFEM is in the process of sub-contracting CAFRA to carry out Economic Literacy Training within its Gender and Poverty Project for the Windward Islands.

UNAIDS supported CAFRA’s participation in the HIV/AIDS Civil Society Workshops, and the UN Special Session held in May and June 2001, respectively.

INICEF invited CAFRA to participate in the United Nations Children’s Summit scheduled for September 2001. Due to the events of 11 September, the United Nations Children’s Summit did not take place in September, and was rescheduled to a date to be fixed in 2002.

CAFRA has completed all the requirements for its application for accreditation to the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations. This application will come up for hearing at the May sitting of the Council 2002.
