Funding

(a) Purchase of Building

HIVOS released the funding that was due in the 2004-2006 period, to enable CAFRA to make deposits on the Secretariat Building. A fund-raising brochure was disseminated to raise the balance of US$ 74,100. Applications for support were also made to OXFAM and several other donor agencies. As a result, CAFRA was able to complete purchase of the building, utilising reserve funds. An approach has been made to the Ministry of Gender Affairs for Assistance with the legal fees.

(b) UNIFEM Trust Fund

CAFRA submitted a project in the amount of US$ 50,000 to the UNIFEM Trust Fund for activities proposal to address Violence Against Women. This project is entitled “Enabling Sex Workers to access health services towards HIV/AIDS Intervention/Prevention”. Funding was not realised for this project, but it remains an important one for CAFRA’s programme.

(c) OXFAM/DFID

The second tranche of funding of US$ 23,000 was released under the OXFAM/DFID project, and was used for research on youth and advocacy activities
