Outreach of Youths
Monday 10 November 2003
1. Several conferences and workshops were held to engage youth living in communities with a history of violence. This was an attempt to build self-esteem and reduce the negative image of their community. Participants were encouraged to identify and promote the “good” in the community.
2. An outreach was also made to indigenous youth through exchange visits of youth from Belize to St Vincent and from Guyana to Trinidad and Tobago.
3. The Latin American and Caribbean Youth Network on Sexual and Reproductive Rights organized a workshop on sexual and reproductive rights in the Dominican Republic from 15 – 30 September. The CAFRA National Committees each nominated two young women to attend this workshop. These young women are active in their groups. They are encouraged to become members of the Junior CAFRA Leagues which are promoted in the CAFRA member countries to build leadership among young women.
