Introduction

The New Millennium came to birth with much groaning as major earthquakes in El Salvador and India have shaken those nations, while in our region, there have been increasing political upheavals as people challenge the systems that are not working for people-centered development.

The impact of Globalisation and Trade Liberalisation on the economies within the region has been disastrous leading to increased poverty and displacement of persons. Within this, CAFRA has continued to identify and address the issues affecting women.

CAFRA’s Work Plan for 2001 was drawn up and circulaed to Staff and Board Members for input. A second Draft was circulated following which the Plan was finalised and used as a guide for the activities of the organisation.

The Annual Report for the year 2000 was prepared and rpinted. In addition to being printed in English and Spanish, the text has been translated into French and Dutch.
