The CAFRA message for November 25 – The International Day Against Violence Against Women focused on institutional and psychological violence, drawing attention to havoc wreaked by the passage of recent hurricanes. The statement makes the point that in a world where the stronger squeeze the weaker, the havoc of the hurricanes produces a new kind of trauma for the poor of the region. The ray of hope is that women are resisting – mobilising at the grassroot and other levels of society to create change.
