International Women’s Day
International Women’s Day – March 8, was celebrated under the Theme “On our Mothers’ Shoulders – Feminism in the 21st Century”. The statement issued for the occasion observed that through the efforts of early feminists today’s Caribbean women have won, among other things, the right to vote, to education and work at all levels outside the home. Many women, however, continue to be oppressed by systems which promote the subordination of women.
