Oxfam-New Directions

The OXFAM Joint Programme has elaborated its new strategic plan, within which grants will be approved. There are five broad aims as follows:

Aim 1 Right to a Sustainable Livelihood

Global SCO 1.1

People living in poverty will achieve food and income security, as well as greater access to, protection of and control over the natural resources on which they depend

Global SCO 1.2

People living in poverty will achieve access to secure paid employment, dignified working conditions, labour rights and opportunities to benefit from alternative economic models

Aim 2 Right to Basic Social Services

Global SCO 2.1

People living in poverty will achieve tangible improvements in their health, through increased access to affordable and adequate basic health services, clean water, sanitation, public health services and shelter

Global SCO 2.2

All children living in poverty will achieve their right to a good quality basic education, and adults in poverty will have access to educational opportunities to help them overcome their poverty

Aim 3 Right to Life and Security

Global SCO 3.1

A significant reduction in the number of people who die, fall sick, suffer deprivation as a direct result of armed conflict of natural disasters

Global SCO 3.2

A significant reduction in the number of people who suffer personal or communal violence, forced displacement or armed conflict

Aim 4 Right to be Heard: Social and Political Citizenship

Global SCO 4.1

Marginalised people will achieve their civil and political rights, will have an effective voice in influencing decisions affecting their lives, and gain the moral support and skills they need to exercise these rights effectively

Aim 5 Right to Equity: Gender and Diversity

Global SCO 5.1

Women, ethnic and cultural minorities, and other groups oppressed or marginalised by reasons of their identity will enjoy rights and status with other people
