Gender Indicators on Trade

2004

With a Grant from the Canadian Government through the CIDA Gender Equality Programme, CAFRA has developed thirty-one (31) Gender Indicators on trade which will be offered to policy-makers as one set of planning tools for informing the scope and nature of trade agreements into which the region centers. They are grouped according to four main types that can be applied to the quality of life of the men and women whose formal and informal production and social reproduction drive the formal economy, and create our society.

The four groups are:

  1. Access to and control of the material and non-material resources
  2. Defining and valuing women’s unpaid work
  3. Ascribing equal value to women’s bodies as is given to men’s bodies
  4. Participation in Public Policy Decision Making
