CAFRA

Enabling Factors

2004

The vision of CAFRA remains its greatest strength. Its outreach to the English, Dutch, French and Spanish speaking Caribbean speaks strongly to regional integration. The membership has not recognised language and water as barriers, but rather as bridges, unity and empowering women to create social change.

This sense of purpose enables the organisation to respond to the demands of the struggle for social justice.

CAFRA has grounded its mission in an analysis that speaks to issues of race, ethnicity and class, along with a focus on the social relations of gender. CAFRA serves as a facilitator of the regional women’s movement, encouraging regional collaboration and solidarity. In spite of dwindling financial resources to the region, CAFRA has won continuing support of several funding and donor organizations within and outside the region.
