There was a smooth transition of CAFRA programmes from 1998 into 1999.

The organisation faced three sets of challenges in the course of its year`s work.

In light of decreasing donor support, the CAFRA Regional Committee established a Task Force to generate a course of action for the organisation’s financial sustainability, and to report in the new year.

The CAFRA Policy Document on Gender and Societal Transformation was completed.

Third Caribbean Ministerial Conference On Women

This forum met in Mexico at the end of August to plan strategies for the Beijing+5 Review and on going implementation on :

UNIFEM invited CAFRA to two important events during the period under review.

With funds accessed through the European Commission, Women in Development Europe (WIDE) CAFRA conducted a Workshop on Advocacy and Lobbying Skills Training, as part of follow-up to the Fourth World Conference on Women.

The World Association for Christian Communication (WACC), the University of Leicester, Media Watch Canada and about 80 monitoring groups worldwide set in motion the massive Global Media Monitoring Project.
